REU Application

Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in the KU IDEA Incubator REU program!  Details about the program can be found at http://cpe.engr.ku.edu/reu-program.  

To complete the application, you will need three key documents: 

  1. Personal Essay -- This essay should cover four areas: Background, Achievements, Motivations, and Aspirations. In other words, please address the following questions: What is your background? Have you had any special academic achievements? Why are you interested in participating in this program? What do you hope to learn or gain from this program? What do you aspire to achieve in the future? What are your career goals? Is there any additional information that the reviewers should be award of? (Format: PDF file, 2 pages maximum, 12pt font, standard margins, single or double spacing will be accepted and is up to the applicant)
  2. Unofficial College Transcripts as a PDF file (unofficial or "released to student" version is fine)
  3. Letter of Recommendation -- you will need to ask a person who is familiar with you to email a letter of recommendation on your behalf to Claudia Bode at bode@ku.edu. This person  should write about your academic abilities, accomplishments, level of motivation, communication style, work habits, and potential as a researcher.

Review of applications will begin on April 10, 2019, and continue until all spaces are filled.

This REU program provides housing for participants in the dorms on campus.
This REU program is open only to U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents.

Ask your reference to email the letter of recommendation directly to Claudia Bode at bode@ku.edu.
