Post-Doctoral Research Ana Colaco Morais, who works in Prof. Mark Shiflett's lab, recently received notice about an honorary Baxter Young Investigator Award. About this award, the Young Investigator Awards Organizing Committee commented, "We recognize the high caliber of your academic and research efforts and congratulate you on your valuable contributions to healthcare science." The purpose of this award program is "to stimulate and reward research that can be directly used for critical care therapies and the development of medical products that save and sustain patients’ lives."
Dr. Morais joined the Shiflett Research group earlier this year. She received her Ph.D. in Sustainable Chemistry in 2018 from the NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal. While pursuing her Ph.D., Dr. Morais received the Green Talents Award (2016) – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development – from Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany for her work in the field of sustainable development. Currently she is working on the determination of physical properties of refrigerants in lubricants and polymers in collaboration with Chemours Company. Ana is also working on the development of an effective encapsulation method to prevent the denaturation of proteins in vaccines during transportation. In the future, Ana looks forward to pursuing a career in industrial research.
Congralations, Dr. Morais!
